THE INFLUENCE OF EDUCATION POLICIES ON ADMINISTRATIVE EFFECTIVE OF SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL PRINCIPALS IN EDO SOUTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT

ABSTRACT

This study focuses on the influence of education policies on administrative effectiveness of senior secondary school principals in Edo South Senatorial District. The study covered the theoretical framework, concept of principals’ leadership effectiveness, problems associated with policy implementation. The study adopted the descriptive research design. This is because the study sought to establish if a linear relationship exist between educational policies and principals’ leadership effectiveness in secondary schools Edo state. The population of the study comprises of all the principals and teachers in the public secondary school in Edo south. Though the principals are studied, the teachers are used to study them. The sampling procedure of the study is sixty (60). The research instrument used for this study is questionnaire. The questionnaire was tagged: the influence of education policies on administrative effectiveness of senior secondary school principals in Edo South Senatorial District. The question had two sections – section A and section B. Section A was the demographic data and section B was designed to gather the perception of teachers concerning their principals. It was recommended amongst others that: Principals should adopt styles that are democratic and involves staff participation in the management of schools and there should be adequate training and re-training of principals in public secondary schools in Edo state for effective administration of secondary schools through seminars, workshops and conference regardless of the gender, experience or inexperience, school size and school type
