Black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens) is known for its ability to feed and grow on organic waste due to the decomposing ability of the fly, and this has led to multiple researches into the diet suitability and preference of the fly. This experiment investigated the effects of Indomie and Macaroni-wate diet on the developmental period, survival rate, weight gain, sex ratio and proximate analysis. Three diets; indomie, macaroni and a mixture of both diets as control were used to feed Hermetia illucens larva, with weight recorded at the start and end of 10 days, the setup was monitored for 60 days. Mean developmental period, weight gain, survival rate and sex ratio varied non-significantly. The developmental period (days); percentage weight gain; percentage survival and sex ratio of Hermetia illucens were 43 days, 45 days, and 43 days; 40.40%, 60.87% and 54.82%; 32.83%, 60.45% and 50.40%; 49.79% male (M) and 50.21% female (F), 47.32% M and 52.68% F, 50.18% M and 49.82% F respectively. Analysis of the result revealed that indomie and macaroni are equally suitable for rearing of Hermetia illucens.
