ABSTRACT
This study investigated “The influence of covid-19 on the management of tertiary institutions. Five (5) research questions were raised to guide the study. The multi stage sampling technique was employed to select samples for the study. The first stage was dividing the departments in the faculty into science and art based programmes using stratified sampling techniques .The second stage was to select one programme each from the two selected Departments. This was done using simple random sampling technique. The third stage was done using purposive sampling technique to select thirty (30) students each for the study. The questionnaire was the major instrument used for the study and was designed and validated by experts in the Departments of Educational Management , Faculty of Education, University of Benin, Benin City, for item scrutiny. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as tables, simple percentages, mean score and standard deviation. Findings of the study revealed that Covid-19 affected the management of tertiary institutions and it also showed the short coming of government such as lack of fund, electricity and mismanagement of tertiary institutions. It was further recommended that Lecturers should endeavour to incorporate and prioritize the use of ICT to mediate teaching and learning process as ICT use have the potentials to elicit and sustain students’ interest in learning programmes, which affected students during the lockdown .Lecturers ,and School management should also work together to make students attain the required knowledge due to the effects of covid-19.
