ABSTRACT
The objective of this study is to examine the complex relationship that exists between the election results and the degree of participation among undergraduate students in the nation, with a focus on the University of Benin. Given the significant influence politics can have on society dynamics, the purpose of this research is to determine how the election may affect undergraduate students at the University of Benin's viewpoints, civic engagement, and general level of engagement.
In a country where youth constitute a significant portion of the population, the political environment is felt not just at polling places but also in classrooms, impacting the basic fabric of student life. Through an examination of the nexus between politics and academics, this research aims to interpret how the 2023 presidential election may have a profound impact on the educational experiences, career goals, and general awareness of the following generation of leaders and intellectuals.
The present study aims to investigate the intricate effects of the election, acknowledging that there are nuances of influence on the educational ecosystem that extend beyond the traditional domains of policy and governance. The goal of this study is to provide important insights into how student participation is changing in the context of Nigeria's dynamic political environment by illuminating this complicated relationship.
Undergraduate students are at the forefront of societal progress, making their involvement in the Nigerian presidential election of 2023 all the more essential. By focusing on the pulse of university campuses, especially the University of Benin, this study seeks to go beyond the traditional assessments of political results and their implications and identify the beating heart of political consciousness among the future generation. These possible ramifications go beyond the political sphere and touch on issues of social cohesiveness, cultural dynamics, and the fundamentals of knowledge distribution. This study intends to offer a redefined understanding of how political developments weave into the intricate details of educational landscapes, influencing the very fundamental values of intellectual pursuit and societal progression by examining the ripple effects of the election on undergraduate student engagement.
This study acknowledges the necessity of a comprehensive strategy that considers the various ways that political narratives permeate classrooms, student assemblies, and the larger academic conversation. In addition to adding to the academic discourse on politics and education, our goal with this research is to strengthen the voices of the younger generation, whose viewpoints and deeds will determine the course of Nigeria's democratic development in the years to come.
This research work is divided into five (5) chapters for proper understanding and clarification. In chapter one (1), we look at the technicalities involved I writing a research work and we look at the introduction of our main thrust of study. In chapter two (2), we take a comprehensive look at the literature review and the theoretical method to be adopted. In chapter three (3), we will discuss the research methodology, while in chapter four, we proceed into data collection and data analysis and lastly chapter five (5), we look at the concluding part of this research work as well the overall summary of this work.
