SUMMARY
In Africa and all over the world, women have proved themselves as worthy elements of positive change. The tides of women are already changing in every society. They have been seen as worthy patriot and their influence cannot be denied in the process of nation building. This study has revealed that the influence of women in their societies is, however, not a recent phenomenon; they have been very useful in time past and have continued to be forerunners in the evolution and development of socio_economic culture in various societies.
This study has, proved that Igbehkue women and African women in general have been of great importance in pre-colonial Igbehkue village and African societies. However, women in have been frequently invisible in the way and manner men have dominated the society as if they were not relevant. But this research has brought to light their firm influence and their place in the development of Igbehkue village.
