ABSTRACT
This study is an attempt to assess the impact of video assistant referee (VAR) in the improvement of football: the perspective of Bendel insurance football club of Benin The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. A total of 25 respondents were used for this study. set of questionnaires were utilized in this study, the first set of questionnaires dealt with the personal data of the respondents and the other set of questionnaires dealt with issues raised in the research question. The validity of the study was determined by the researcher’s supervisor and the Cronbach alpha statistics result gotten from the reliability test were 0.86, indicating that the instrument was reliable. The study discovered revealed that impact of Video assistant referee (VAR) in the improvement of football is to a high extent and the analyses from research question two shows that Video assistant referee (VAR) adopted in Nigeria football league is to a low extent. The study therefore recommends that Nigerian football association should recognize that Video assistant referee (VAR) improves the fairness and accuracy of match decisions. Encourage the club to embrace Video assistant referee (VAR) as a tool to minimize referee errors, which can have a significant impact on match outcomes.
