ABSTRACT
Governorship elections were conducted in 26 states in Nigeria on March 18, 2023, three weeks after the presidential election. The gubernatorial elections had significantly more reports of voters apathy than the presidential election and this had numerous negative impacts on the outcome of the gubernatorial election. Several reasons has been allocated to this issue such as insecurity, electoral violence, poor governance, etc. The aim of this study is to examine how socioeconomic factors impacted the outcome of the gubernatorial election in Nigeria.
