CONCLUSION

This study analysed what the media is and what it stands for, social media, its evolution from the internet and mainstream media, its development over time, and how, in its evolving features, it has been able to play a role in governance and the international system fitly, and influence the outcome of global events. Before the advent of social media, the spread of information was limited to Newspapers, the telegraph, the radio, mainstream media houses, and television. Social media came through the internet and revolutionised the information system from the hands of a few to the hands of many. It transferred information power from the government and agencies to the people. It created an avenue for people all over the world to connect and share information.
