ABSTRACT
This chapter will conclude the research by summarising the most important findings concerning the research aims and objectives. The oil and gas industry, responsible for petroleum exploration, production, and related services, contributes to Nigeria’s civilisation and development. As a result, it gives vigour and stability and contributes to its wealth and power. However, the search for further innovation increases the exploration rate and the level of dependency on oil profits, especially since petroleum remains Nigeria’s sole source of revenue.
Consequently, this investment in exploration and production puts the environment at risk from pollution events, seriously impacting the host communities. Moreover, petroleum is the sole source of development, sustenance, and a medium for the Nigerian government's international trade. Therefore, a case study on oil pollution management in Nigeria's Ogoniland and Niger Delta Region was deemed necessary to determine the level of environmental depletion, degradation, economic imbalances, and agricultural insufficiency caused by these oil spills.
