THE IMPACT OF LIBRARY ETHICS ON ACCESS TO INFORMATION BY LIBRARY USERS

ABSTRACT

The goal of this study was to investigate the connection between library ethics and access to information by library users in John Harris library, University of Benin. This study only applies to john Harris Library in university of Benin. The study's four objectives and four research questions were created to serve as its direction. With a population of over 10,500 students and 100 library staff members john Harris Library, University of Benin, correlational survey design was adopted as the research design for this study. a sample size of 200 students and library staff members was purposively chosen. However, the researcher-structured "the library ethics on access to information by library users in john harris library, university of benin questionnaire” questionnaire served as the tool for data collection. however, descriptive and inferential statistics were used to examine the data collected for this study. The findings of this research revealed that library ethics on access to information had a significant impact on library users of john harris library, university of benin. in order to improve the library users access to information in john harris library, universities of benin it is suggested that stakeholders and library management invest in utilizing the library ethics in the library.The researcher recommended training programs for library users to awareness of library ethics on access to information and also that institutional mechanisms for monitoring library users should be strengthened.
