ABSTRACT

The study explores the relationship between information technology (ICT) and businesses in Nigeria, focusing on the nature, operation, and purpose of electronic mail in Nigerian businesses. ICT is the use of computing and telecommunication technologies to facilitate information creation, collection, processing, transmission, and storage. It includes computing technologies like servers, laptop computers, software applications, and wired and wireless communication technologies supporting telephones, the Internet, IoT, and the metaverse. The goal of ICT is to improve access to information and make communication easier and more efficient. The study examines the direct results or significance of ICT, specifically email, on Nigerian businesses from inception to date. Emails are a fast, inexpensive, and accessible way to communicate for business or personal use, and businesses in Nigeria have recently embraced the role of ICT in their operations since 1996. The study highlights the importance of ICT in driving innovation, enhancing productivity, and fostering global connectivity in modern society.
