ABSTRACT

The study aims to investigate the Impact of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in early childhood education in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Benin city. Four research question were raised to guide the study and they are How will ICT improve learning in preschool. What are the threat of the use of computer for children's learning at early years. Do children in preschool have access to computer or other gadget in school or at home. What are the uses of ICT in teacher's performance in teaching in preschool are raised in this study. The purpose of this study is to find why and what ICT does in the life of children positively or negatively. The research design used was a descriptive survey research design using random sampling technique. The instrument used was questionnaire and mean and standard deviation were used for analysis of research data, from the analysis and interpretation received through questionnaire finding were revealed. The impact of Early Childhood is the reason the study was undertaken. There is important impact in the use of ICT in learning of children in preschool. The study concluded that teacher's experience and performance are considered, if changes are to be made to encourage and optimize opportunities for young children' learning and how the roles and experience influence and shapes the ways in which teachers implement and integrates ICT within the early childhood context These findings recommend that ICT have an important role in children's learning and in teacher's performance in teaching. It recommends that Researcher and Educators should encourage Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Early Childhood Education from the Perspective of children and families. This will help in exploring how early childhood teacher notice, recognize and respond to the impact of Information and Communication Technology(ICT) on young children through a series of case studies.
