ABSTRACT

This study aimed at examining the impact of entrepreneurship development studies among students in Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria (A case study of the University of Benin). Five research questions were raised to guide the study. The design adopted for this study is the survey research design. The sample consisted of 100 respondents randomly selected from 100-400level student in the Department of Entrepreneurship, Faculty of Social Sciences. Questionnaires were used for the collection of data from 100 (One hundred) respondents. The research instrument was validated by the researcher’s supervisor. The data obtained were analyzed using the sample percentage table. Findings revealed that entrepreneurship development studies have enhanced the career choice of students in the University of Benin, it was also revealed that the center for entrepreneurship development on campus have enhances skills & entrepreneurship development in University of Benin. Findings also revealed that there are challenges militating against entrepreneurship education among university students in the University of Benin such as poor infrastructure, poor curriculum among others. Based on the findings, it was recommended University authority should begin to create a forum & platform for students to be engaged practically in entrepreneurship in order to boost their creativity and innovation abilities. It was also recommended that University graduates with entrepreneurship education and skills should be financed and adequately supported by the government in order to establish them and make the more beneficial to the society.
