THE IMPACT OF E-LEARNING ON UNDERGRADUATES ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE (A CASE STUDY OF UNIVERSITY OF BENIN)

ABSTRACT

This study is aimed at assessing the impact of e-learning on undergraduates academic performance in the university of Benin , Edo state .  To achieve the purpose of the study, Data was collected from one hundred (100) randomly selected from undergraduates in faculty of education in Benin city. The questionnaire and checklist was the instrument for data collection.

     The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. An analysis of data was done using descriptive statistics and mean score.  To ensure the content and face validity of the instrument, the draft copy of the questionnaire was given to the project supervisor and two researchers in the department of educational management for proper modification. Based on the supervional corrections, the final draft was prepared and used for data collection.

. Hypothesis and four -research questions were formulated for testing; these were statistically answered using percentage to establish the students’ responses to e-learning and academic performance. The findings revealed that e-learning has positive impact on the academic performance of the students.  Recommendations made on the findings include: improvement on the internet network in Nigeria by the government and the higher institutions. Government should ensure that a minimum standard of requirement is set for schools to get computer facilities to enhances the effective accessing of material on computer education
