ABSTRACT
This research work has carefully examined cybercrime which has become a menace in the international system. It focused majorly on the impact of cybercrime on Nigeria’s image in the international community. It started with the understanding of the nature of cybercrime as a trending phenomenon which explains cybercrime as any crime against the computer and other devices which is done with the use of the cyberspace. Criminals take advantage of the vulnerability of the cyberspace to commit offenses against any unsuspecting victims. Crimes which were once committed physically where there have to be a form of contact between the criminals and the victims are now done without any physical contact where the victims are exploited on the cyberspace. It explained further that cybercrime have no specific date in history as to when it originally started. Although there are traces of cybercrime recorded in the early centuries, but cybercrime emerged with the advent of science and technology, with the launching of the first satellite in space which is known as SPUTNIK 1. It led to the introduction of the internet and other devices such as phones, laptops and the social media generally.
