ABSTRACT

This study was designed to assess the impact of business consultants on MSMEs in Edo state, Nigeria. Objectively the study explored the relationship between MSMEs use of consultants and organizational performance and it doesn’t fail to identify to challenges faced by MSMEs when using business consultants. The researchers made use of primary sources of data (questionnaires). For the purpose of analyzing the data, the researcher made use of descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) while the multiple linear regression model was adopted in ascertaining the relationship between the research variables and to test the formulated hypothesis via the statistical package for social sciences(SPSS) version 21. The findings from the study include that to a large extent business consultant has significant relationship with MSMEs performance. The study recommends among others that business regulatory institutions should organize capacity building workshops and training programs tailored to MSMEs to enhance their understanding of the value proposition of business consultants. Government should also encourage collaborative consulting models where MSMEs can pool resources to engage consultants collectively, this approach will help reduce costs while still benefiting from the expertise and insights of consultants.
