ABSTRACT
This study aimed at assessing the impact of bullying on the academic performance of secondary school students in Egor Local government Area Benin, Benin City, Edo State. Four research questions were raised for the purpose of the study. The design adopted for this research is survey research design. The sample consisted of 100 respondents simple randomly selected from 5 schools in Egor Local government Area of Benin City Edo State. Questionnaires were used as instrument for the collection of data from 100(hundred) respondents who were students. The research instrument was validated by the researcher’s supervisor and three other lecturers from the department. The test re-test method was adopted in testing the reliability of the instrument after which the research instruments were administered by the researcher herself. The data obtained were analyzed using Standard deviation. Findings revealed that bullying has significantly impact student’s academic and over all performance in Egor Local Government Area of Benin City Edo State. Based on the findings and conclusion drawn, it was recommended that secondary schools should establish and enforce clear and comprehensive anti-bullying policies that outline zero-tolerance for any form of bullying behaviour. These policies should be communicated effectively to students, staff, and parents, emphasizing the seriousness of bullying and the consequences for perpetrators.
