ABSTRACT
The study investigated the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on students' learning experiences in higher institutions, focusing on 200 undergraduate students at the University of Benin. Through questionnaire administration, data were collected and analyzed using mean and standard deviation tables, employing a stratified random sampling technique. Findings revealed that students perceived the integration of AI positively, recognizing its influence on engagement, understanding of course materials, and overall academic performance. They acknowledged AI's role in accessing learning materials, personalizing experiences, fostering collaboration, providing feedback, and enhancing critical thinking skills. Despite acknowledging the benefits, students also highlighted challenges such as technology glitches and concerns about a digital divide. In conclusion, the study highlighted the positive perception of AI integration among Nigerian higher education students, emphasizing its potential to enhance learning outcomes and prepare students for future careers. Recommendations include offering comprehensive training for students and educators, ensuring equitable access to AI resources, promoting collaboration among stakeholders, and addressing ethical considerations associated with AI use. These recommendations aim to maximize the benefits of AI while addressing challenges to ensure its effective and equitable implementation in education.
