ABSTRACT

Medicinal plants include a various types of plants used in herbalism and some of these plants have a medicinal activities. These medicinal plants consider as a rich resources of ingredients which can be used in drug development and synthesis. The leaves of Andrographis paniculate, Zingiber officinale, Annona muricata were gotten from Benin city in Ovia North local government area Edo state, Nigeria. It was identified and authenticated by the Herbarium Unit of the Department of Plant Biology and Biotechnology, University of Benin. The plant leaves obtained from the different plants were rinsed in clean water, opened and air dried for a duration of 21 days as well as oven dried at a temperature of 45 C 0 with a duration of 24 hours. The dried leave samples were powdered utilizing the British milling machine. Biochemical analysis was carried on the Lipid profile which include total cholesterol level, triglyceride level high density lipoprotein and low density lipoprotein as well as Serum estrogen Concentration. From the result of the study showed that the administration of polyherbal aqueous extract at dosage of 200, 400 and 800 mg/kg showed significant increase in oestrogen level, total cholesterol level, triglyceride at dosage of 800 mg/kg. The increase in high density lipoprotein and low density lipoprotein level was observed. The polyherbal aqueous extract possesses vital phytochemical constituents which may be useful in Lipid Profile and Estrogen Level elevation and useful management of other diseases.
