ABSTRACT
In light of the study's findings, the conclusion can be interpreted as follows: The majority of adult learners in the Oredo local government region are locals who also speak Edo as their first language. This demonstrates how the literacy initiatives serve the community by improving the reading and writing abilities of the people living there. Furthermore The problems that adult learners experience as they age include deteriorating sight, hearing, and muscle control, rather than catastrophic disabilities. This suggests that in order to support and accommodate students with these restrictions, the literacy centers should think about offering suitable accommodations.
Adult learners are motivated by a variety of causes, such as the need to improve their literacy for self-improvement, to fulfill job requirements or look for new prospects, and to take an active role in their children's academic development. Participating in literacy programs also gives them more self-assurance and motivates them to get involved in their society. The study identifies a number of obstacles that adult learners must overcome while they pursue their education. These difficulties include the absence of encouragement from friends and family, financial limitations, health problems, and worries about language and social acceptance.
