ABSTRACT
This study investigates the impact of lifelong learning on the socio-economic empowerment of women in Benin Metropolis. Lifelong learning, a concept that encompasses continuous education throughout an individual's life, has been recognized as a crucial driver for personal growth, professional development, and societal advancement. This research aims to explore the extent to which lifelong learning programs are available and utilized by women in Benin Metropolis, assess their effectiveness in enhancing women's skills and knowledge, and identify the socioeconomic benefits these programs bring. A descriptive research design was employed, involving the distribution of questionnaires to a sample of women participating in various lifelong learning programs within Benin Metropolis. The study population comprised women from diverse backgrounds, ages, and socio-economic statuses, providing a comprehensive understanding of the topic. Data collected were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings reveal that while lifelong learning programs are available, participation rates among women vary due to financial constraints, lack of awareness, and cultural barriers. However, those who engage in these programs report significant improvements in employment opportunities, entrepreneurial activities, and overall economic status. Additionally, lifelong learning contributes to women's social empowerment by enhancing their leadership skills, social networks, and awareness of social issues. The study concludes that lifelong learning is a powerful tool for the socio-economic empowerment of women in Benin Metropolis. It recommends the implementation of strategies such as financial aid, increased outreach, flexible learning schedules, and community support to improve access and participation. The research underscores the need for continuous advocacy and policy interventions to address the barriers hindering women's participation in lifelong learning programs and to maximize their potential benefits for individual and societal growth.
