ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to see how different carbohydrate sources affected the growth of Ganoderma lucidum. Ganoderma lucidum pure culture was obtained from the African Centre for Mushroom Research and Technology Innovation's fungal bank (ACMRTI). Carbohydrates were obtained from various sources, including potato, yam, plantain, cocoyam, rice, yeast, czapek-dox, and cornmeal. According to the findings, the mushroom took an average of four days to colonize the petri dish. The mushroom's mycelia growth was supported to varying degrees by the various carbohydrate sources. Ganoderma lucidum A and B grew the fastest in media containing potato as a carbohydrate source, with growth rates of 2.0 and 2.24, respectively. The high nutrient composition may explain the high supportive nature of Potato and Rice to the vegetative growth of this mushroom. Ganoderma lucidum A mycelia density was very dense on Potato media and very thin on Cedox pack media. Both fungi's mycelia characteristics were also recorded. According to the findings, these carbohydrate sources can be used to generate mycelia biomass.
