ABSTRACT
Andrographis paniculata Wall, belonging to the Acanthaceae family, has a rich history of traditional medicinal usage across Asia, America, and Africa for centuries, offering treatment for a wide range of ailments including cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, ulcer, leprosy, bronchitis, skin diseases, flatulence, colic, influenza, dysentery, dyspepsia, and malaria. This versatile plant boasts a diverse array of phytochemical constituents, each with unique and intriguing biological properties. The objective of this research project was to delve into the biochemical impact of Andrographis paniculata aqueous extract on liver function enzymes. To accomplish this, we conducted experiments employing a rat model to meticulously evaluate the biochemical effects of this extract on liver health. The results from our study exhibited a rather intricate picture – there were both increases and reductions observed in specific liver function enzymes following the administration of Andrographis paniculata aqueous extract to the rats. These findings underscore the complexity of the extract's influence on hepatic function.
