ABSTRACT

This study was done to conduct experimental research to examine how solar spectrum radiation affects solar modules with color filtering. Solar radiation intensity is one of the major parameters of solar energy that affects the photovoltaic module voltage outcomes. Regardless, the solar radiation is composed of wavelengths in frequency range, and each one of them has different effects on the solar module. A simple case study was carried out to experimentally verify the effect of various color filters on the performance of solar photovoltaic module, after a wide range of literature review and microsoft excel was used to evaluate the data which were diagrammatically represented. The study results reveal that the PV panel output for the natural light spectrum is the highest compared to each of the different wavelengths of light spectrum extracted using the filters. Because intensity is lost due to the coloring of the color filters, the decrease in output voltages is an expected outcome. The study's findings demonstrated that the visible spectrum and its distinct solar radiation wavelengths have an impact on the performance of solar panels.
