ABSTRACT

The study shows the effect of mass media campaign on HIV/AIDS menace in Nigeria, laying credence to the above, the Nigerian media in giving emphases through their packaging, framing, and dissemination of information about various issues on HIV/AIDS to the masses made them play the agenda-setting role.                    They have really made debates and discussions on these issues spread across the rank and file (that is, from medical, to socio-cultural, religious, and to the academic fields, and even among the market men and women, among others). This is seen to be true as more Nigerians are informed and sensitized about the HIV/AIDS disease; the following have been recommended: The government should adopt mass media campaigns on HIV/AIDS awareness which should be on air every week, Training sessions on HIV risks and effects should be organized in every TV and Radio stations at least twice a month, The government should support and finance radio houses and TV stations online or air campaign on HIV/AIDS. The few Television and Radio stations dedicated to HIV campaigns should be rewarded handsomely as this will encourage those that are not serious about it.
