ABSTRACT

 This research work seek to examine the the effect of local government administration in economic and social development; a case study of egor local government area edo state. The study made use of questionnaire to obtain data from respondent. Four objectives were raised for the study. The study found that Local Government has varied sources of revenue and that that Federal and state allocations are a major source of revenue for Egor Local Government. Also the study showed that Egor Local Government is faced with numerous challenges in revenue generation and that revenue generation has had an impact on the development of Egor Local Government. The findings showed that the lack of financial autonomy contributes immensely to the problem of revenue generation in Egor Local Government. And thus recommend that The immunity granted the governor in the Constitution has significantly been abused and the paper recommend a constitutional amendment to withdraw it. Governor should be made accountable while still in office and this may checkmate their excesses
