SUMMARY

This study assessed the effect of kolaviron on the sperm motility and sperm count on Wister rat. There was statistical significant reduction at the different concentrations of the tested groups (B, C and D), compared with control respectively (FIG4.1). This means that kolaviron did not increase the sperm count rather it reduces the sperm count. The higher the concentration of Kolaviron, more the negative effect on sperm count. This result is in agreement with (Sewani-Rusike et al., 2015). 'They claimed that Garcinia kola extract increases libido, erection, and ejaculation in treated rats, with lower doses being more effective than higher doses.'

          Sperm motility has to do with the ability of sperm to move properly through the female reproductive tract. Also it has to do with the quality of the sperm which is a factor for successful conception. Fig 4.2 shows the statistical significant decreases in group C and D which are 50mg/kg and 100mg/kg concentrations of kolaviron compared with control respectively, though, there was no significant difference in  group B which is 25mg/kg compared with control. This means that kolaviron has more negative effect on the sperm progressive motility if the potency of kolaviron extract is higher than 25mg/kg. Isaac et al., (2013), According to their findings, kolaviron did not protect but rather harmed the spermogram, testicular structure, and function of lead-treated animals.
