ABSTRACT
This study examined the impact of instructional materials on the academic performance of primary school pupils in Oredo Local Government Area, Edo State. It also explored the adequacy of the use of instructional materials in teaching, the extent to which these materials affect academic performance, how they prevent low academic performance, and the types of instructional materials available for teaching in primary schools. The study employed a descriptive survey design. The population included all teachers in public primary schools in Oredo Local Government Area, and a sample of 60 teachers from selected schools was chosen using multistage sampling techniques. Data were collected through a questionnaire titled "The Effect of Instructional Materials on the Academic Performance of Primary School Pupils in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State." The key findings revealed Teachers should promote active student engagement in class activities by utilizing interactive instructional materials., Also Public primary school teachers should create their own instructional materials to enhance the teaching and learning process, All public primary schools in Oredo Local Government should establish well-equipped libraries. Additionally, primary school teachers should improvise instructional materials for the teaching and learning process. The government should prioritize the distribution of adequate and relevant instructional materials to primary schools to ease the teachers' burden.
