ABSTRACT This study explores the effects of environment on the performance of student performance in English Language schools in Ekiti West Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Nigeria. Despite extensive research on teaching methods and curriculum design, the role of the learning environment in language acquisition has not received adequate attention. This project aims to identify key environmental elements such as classroom design, noise levels, lighting, temperature, air quality, acoustics, and the availability of classroom resources, and examine their impact on students' English language proficiency and academic performance. Through a quantitative research design, data were collected from students across various educational institutions via surveys and assessments. The findings highlight significant correlations between optimal environmental conditions and improved student engagement, motivation, and performance in English language tasks. Factors such as flexible seating arrangements, minimal background noise, adequate lighting, comfortable temperatures, and high air quality were found to enhance students' ability to concentrate, comprehend, and retain English language content. The study underscores the importance of creating conducive learning environments to support English language learners. Recommendations for educators, administrators, and viii policymakers include optimizing classroom conditions, ensuring access to necessary resources, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning culture, and advocating for policies that address environmental disparities. By addressing these factors, educational institutions can significantly enhance the effectiveness of English language education and promote better academic outcomes for students.
