ABSTRACT
Electoral processes in Nigeria as have been observed have been troubled with corrupt practices in all its ramifications.
In the case of the 1999 elections, the election turned out to be peaceful and orderly and was generally accepted as the closet fee and fair election we have had since the 1993 election, which was annulled. The electoral process adopted this time was a vast improvement compared to previous ones conducted in the country. About 10 million registration entries were voided on the grounds of multiple registration and irregularities. This action considerably reduced the possibility of electoral manipulations by those who had planned to rig the elections.
