ABSTRACT

The purpose of the study was to determine whether Cocos nucifera L water might reduce the amount of cadmium that was hazardous to the cardiac tissues and lipid profile of male wistar albino rats. Twenty (20) male Wistar albino rats in good health, weighing an average of 135 grams, were divided into four groups (A to D), each containing five rats. Group B received both 2 mg/kg bwt of the cadmium solution and 4ml/kg bwt of Cocos nucifera L water, whereas Group A received only 2 mg/kg bwt of the cadmium solution. Group D received solely Cocos nucifera L water, whereas Group C received both 6ml/kg bwt of the cadmium solution and 2mg/kg bwt of the water. The cadmium chloride dramatically falls, according to the results.Group A experienced a substantial rise (p>0.05) in body weight and lipid profile levels, but not in cholesterol, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein, or low-density lipoprotein levels when Cocos nucifera L. water and cadmium chloride were co-administered. When comparing Group B and C test rats to Group A, histopathological research revealed that cadmium chloride did not harm any of the test rats' hearts. As a result of this study, the lipid profile and heart tissues may be less susceptible to the harmful effects of cadmium, according to the water from Cocos nucifera L.
