SUMMARY
In conclusion, we will identify some of the major findings of the project. It is evident that this work is a study of the economic impact of palm oil production in Isoko land during colonial times. The study analyses the contributions of palm oil production as a poverty alleviation strategy and the development to the people of Isoko. It examined the economic role of both genders in the development of palm oil production. We noted in the chapter two of this work that the economy of the Isoko area and indeed Niger Delta land rested on triple stand, agriculture, trade and industry. Agriculture dominated the other two, while trade distributed the products of the two. Women dominated trade and industry which includes cloth weaving, palm processing, mat making. Both men and Women also played tremendous roles that cannot be overlooked in agricultural production. They were in charge of the processing of palm produce, the weeding of farmlands, the planting of auxiliary farm crops and so on. Women complemented every effort of men in the farm land.
