Abstract
This study investigate the “Economic impact of Nigeria border closure on the lives of Benin City inhabitants” it also explores and examine the economic impact of Nigeria border closure in Egor Local Government Area of Edo state; it ascertain the extent to which border closure increases local products patronage in Egor Local Government Area of Edo state Nigeria. The study adopted a quantitative research method with survey instruments deployed to gather data analysis. Findings revealed that more employment opportunities are created in the agricultural sector and value chain,. Based on these findings, it was recommended Most of the export earnings by land may ultimately not be repatriated to Nigeria, given room for reverse dumping which is detrimental to earning capacity. The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria and other self-regulated associations should provide supportive information to the government on the impact of the policy on their members if any. This should be an opportunity for the government to develop and revise the process of export data through the land borders.
