ABSTRACT

This essay is an examination of the the dual vision of Christianity in Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart and Mongo Beti’s The Poor Christ of Bomba, with a focus onhow both novelists present the subject of tolerance and compromise through the characters’ perspectives. It addresses the issues of hypocrisy, compassion, high-handedness and blasphemy, prevalent in Christianity today.
