ABSTRACT
Nigeria’s Afrocentric foreign policy which emphasizes Africa as the centerpiece of its foreign relations, has been a subject of debate regarding it’s success or failure in addressing racial issues. While the policy has been instrumental in liberation struggles across Africa, critics argue that it has not sufficiently served Nigeria’s national interests. The policy’s focus on Africa has led to significant contributions to African unity and liberation but has sometimes been perceived as neglecting Nigeria’s domestic challenges. The policy’s impact on Nigeria’s economy and international recognition has been questioned with calls for a review to align foreign policy with national interests. They has been ongoing debates which centres on whether Nigerian foreign policy has effectively balanced its commitment to Africa with its domestic needs and strategic interests, raising concerns about its overall success or failure in addressing racial issues within it’s foreign relations.
