ABSTRACT
The study focuses on the identification of factors that determine the choice of toilet systems in Ekosodin Community. It covers identification of types of toilet systems and if these systems provide good sanitation coverage. Primary data were analyzed for the study. 190 copies of questionnaire were administered in Ekosodin Community where every second house on every second street was selected. 187 copies of questionnaires returned valid for analysis. The Statistical Package of Social Sciences (SPSS) was employed in analysing the data. Data results show that water closet, pour flush system and pit latrine are toilet systems used in Ekosodin Community. As improved sanitation facilities, they provide good sanitation coverage in the Community. Cost, hygiene, comfort, convenience, house quality, the need for privacy, avilability of water, the need to save land amongst other factors were found to determine the choice of toilet systems in Ekosodin Community.
