ABSTRACT

Based on the findings presented in this research study, it becomes evident that the connection between avant-garde journalism and new media platforms, particularly social media, has become increasingly significant. Journalists have embraced these platforms to reach larger audiences and explore innovative storytelling techniques. The benefits of avant-garde journalism in Nigeria are undeniable, including enhanced news speed and the opportunity for interaction with readers. However, it is crucial to acknowledge the potential drawbacks associated with the absence of robust regulation in digital journalism. The ease of content creation and publication without stringent oversight raises concerns about the quality, credibility, and accuracy of information disseminated through avant-garde practices. The study highlights the ethical challenges faced by avant-garde journalism, such as maintaining objectivity and avoiding bias. The rapid dissemination of information through new media technologies can compromise journalistic integrity, leading to sensationalism, or partisan narratives.
