ABSTRACT
This research explores the intricate connection between the art of oral poetry/chants and its profound influence on the Nigerian societies of Esan and Igbo cultures. By delving into the historical, cultural, and social contexts of these oral traditions, the study aims to unveil the role of oral poetry/chants as carriers of cultural heritage, transmitting values, narratives, and identity.
