ABSTRACT

Safeguarding plant health against fungal infections, caused by Fusarium oxysporum, is vital for ensuring food security and sustainability in agriculture. Despite widespread antifungal use, substantial crop losses persist, urging the quest for eco-friendly and sustainable solutions. Plant growth-promoting bacteria (PGPB) isolated from Talinum fruticosum rhizosphere emerge as promising allies, offering both disease management and growth enhancement benefits. Objectives of the study includes isolation, identification, and characterization of bacteria with potential to control plant diseases caused by a Fusarium oxysporum, and the assessment of physiochemical parameters which influence soil, plant and microbial communities. This study investigates biological alternatives to synthetic fungicides while also advancing our knowledge on microbial ecology. The findings of this study underlined the promising antagonistic potential of Bacillus species isolated from Talinum fruticosum rhizosphere in managing fungal diseases, promoting crop productivity, while mitigating environmental pollution caused by synthetic fungicide and ensuring global food security.
