ABSTRACT

This study digs into the essential component of acoustic performance in educational buildings and its tremendous impact on students’ learning environments. Noise pollution has become a widespread concern in today’s educational scene, hurting students’ concentration, communication, and overall academics achievement. The fundamental goal of this research is to identify effective acoustic design solutions for optimizing learning environments and promoting learning outcomes. The research begins with a thorough examination of the literature, looking into existing studies on acoustic design principles, guidelines, and best practices for educational facilities. It investigates the impact of sound transmission, room acoustics, and psychoacoustic variables on the learning experience. To examine the current acoustic conditions in diverse areas, noise levels and reverberation periods are recorded and studied. The study next looks at how bad acoustic surroundings affect students’ cognitive capacities, speech intelligibility, and overall well-being. It investigates how excessive noise and poor acoustic quality might result in decreased attention spans, increased stress, and worse comprehension. Based on the findings, the study recommends a set of acoustic design standards for educational facilities. To reduce undesired noise disturbances, these guidelines emphasize sound-absorbing materials, appropriate room forms, proper layout configurations, and the incorporation of sound masking devices. The study also addresses the financial and practical implications of making acoustic enhancements to existing school buildings. It examines the potential difficulties that school administrators and architects may face while renovating older buildings to meet updated acoustic regulations.
