SUMMARY
This work has critically examined Terrorism and it's effects on Northern Nigeria and also it's effects on children and inthat way introducing child protection in Nigeria. This chapter provides the concluding part of the study and emphasizes vital recommendations on Terrorism in Northern Nigeria and also the importance of child protection in Northern Nigeria.
Terrorism today is a global issue, it's not only in Nigeria but all over the world. But the main research is on Nigeria and Northern Nigeria to be specific. Terrorism did not just start in one day, it started gradually, Terrorism in Nigeria started from the time of the civil war
Over this years, Terrorism has taken over Northern Nigeria through the emergence of the Boko Haram. It is believe that Boko Haram started in 2002 but began popular in 2011. The Boko Haram activity has jeopardized the peace and security of Northern Nigeria, their activity has destroyed lives, properties and also has violated the human rights. The aftermath of terrorism is mostly on the children because children are known to be tender and also this children are been separated from their family causing them emotional, physical and emotional trauma. Some were used to recruit armies, some were abuducted from their homes and this children varies from the age of 7-18 years. For example, Boko Haram’s abduction of 276 school girls from the Government Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State, it was only said that in April 2014, fifty-seven of them escaped not before facing cruel treatment, abuse, rape etc. and also another example is the recruiting of boys for armies, whereby the boys are given weapons,the boys are even told to kill their family to show their loyalty to Boko Haram. All this tends to result to mentally and emotionally trauma.
