ABSTRACT

Technology as an integral tool in public administration serves as a driver in enhancing efficiency, productivity and innovation in service delivery. This study was carried out to examine the application of technology and its challenges in service delivery in Ovia North East local government. A total of fifty (50) questionnaires were distributed and five (5) wards in the local government area were selected, which comprised Utese, Uhan, Okada, Olumoye and Utekan. Primary data were obtained through questionnaires and interviews from public servants and administrators in the local government area, while secondary data were obtained from journals, articles and research papers. Primary data obtained were further subjected to statistical analysis using simple percentage and Chi-square (x²). The study showed that the challenges associated with the use of technology could be attributed to lack of electronic readiness, inadequate power supply, lack of technical-know-how, limited funds, lack of infrastructural facilities and many more to mention but a few. This study therefore revealed that the impact of technology in service delivery in Ovia North East local government has not been fully maximized owing to the challenges associated with the use of technology.
