ABSTRACT

This study examined and analyzed Team work and organisational Performance in UBTH, Benin City. The study made use of both primary and secondary data. The data were collected through the administration of 311 questionnaires to employees of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital in Benin Metropolis, Edo state. Out of the 311 Questionnaires distributed, 275 was returned. Among the returned questionnaires, 251 were found suitable for empirical analysis. The data collected was presented through the utilization of descriptive statistics and correlation matrix. Specifically the analysis revealed the following: There is a significant relationship between team composition and organisational Performance, There is a significant positive relationship observed between team communication and Organisational Performance, that there is a significant positive relationship between team conflict resolution and organisational Performance, lastly that there is a significant positive relationship found between team cohesion and organisational Performance. Based on this findings, it was recommended that: Organisations should promote diversity in team composition by encouraging the formation of teams with diverse skills, experiences and perspectives, that organisations should establish open communication channels in order to facilitate collaboration and problem-solving, that organisations should implement Effective Conflict Resolution Mechanisms in order to address conflict and disagreement within teams promptly that organisations should foster a culture of trust and psychological safety within teams by promoting mutual respect, integrity and accountability, that organisations should invest in team building activities and initiatives to foster cohesion and camaraderie among team members, also organisations should Equip team leaders with the necessary skills and resources to effectively lead and manage teams and lastly organisations should foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the organisation, encourage reflection, experimentation and adaptation to changing circumstances to drive innovation and enhance organisational performance overtime.
