TEACHER’S MOTIVATION AND JOB SATISFACTION IN SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL IN EGOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF EDO STATE

ABSTRACT

This study was designed to investigate teacher’s motivation and job satisfaction in senior secondary school in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State.The purpose of this study was to investigate teacher’s motivation and job satisfaction in senior secondary school in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State: Specifically, the study sought to:find out if there are teacher motivated in senior secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State.determine the level of teacher motivation in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State.find out the forms of motivation available in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State?Determine if motivation increase teachers job satisfaction in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State.Find out the relationship between teachers’ motivation and job satisfaction in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. The population of this study consisted of secondary school principals and teachers in Egor Local government area of Edo State who are present and actively working. There are twelve (12) public secondary schools twelve (12) principals (12) and two hundred and thirty-eight (238) teachers (Edo state ministry of education school 2024). The sample for the study covered (12) principals and 60% (143) of teachers randomly selected from the (28) public secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. The simple random technique was used in selecting the sample. The reliability index of the instrument was 0.79 using Cronbach’s alpha statistical formula from data from the pilot study carried out on it. The data collected were analysed using frequency count, simple percentage, and mean score standard. The results obtained from the analysis were quite revealing and instructive. The findings from the study revealed that the various form of motivation such as, in-service training, leave allowance, regular payment of staff salary and reward system are the forms of motivation of teachers available in senior secondary schools in Egor local government area of Edo.It indicated that the level of teacher’s motivation is low in senior secondary schools in Egor local government area of Edo state.It was discovered that teacher’s motivation increases job satisfaction.
