ABSTRACT
This research is a study of style as personality in key speeches of President Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States of America. By using Trump's speeches as a case study and looking into the linguistic patterns and selected rhetoric employed in the speeches, the study aims to explore how oratory style functions as a reflection of personality in political discourse.
This research studies Trump's Campaign, Inaugural, Impeachment and Farewell speeches with the aim of providing a comprehensive understanding of their role and efficiency in conveying his individual and political traits and ideologies which resonates with his audience and influences their opinion of his leadership quality and style.
In chapter two, we analyze the selected speeches to provide insight into his proposed intentions and agenda when elected, which provide the foundation for the study of the personality traits portrayed which aid in conveying these intentions to the audience in order to influence how they see him and win their trust and favour in his character and leadership capabilities.
