ABSTRACT
Prawns are significant source of food for fish, birds, mammals and other Crustaceans. They are also used as fishing bait. This study aims to investigate the parasitic infections in prawns from IKORO River, Edo State. The prawns used for this study were collected between April, 2023 to August 2023, and we're Identified as Macrobrachium vollenhovenii. A total of 55 prawns were examined. Results show no parasites found during the study period. It was concluded that the result gotten was attributed or influenced by a number of factors such as season of sampling (e.g relative rainfall), size of samples physio chemical parameters of the river, susceptibility of hosts population to infective agents, ecological or other conditions in the geographic location, age and sex of the host population.
