Abstract

This study focuses on the Student’s Perception on the Influence of Sex Education on Adolescent Reproductive Health. Three research questions were raised to guide the study. The study adopted the descriptive survey research design. The population of the study was 20,334 students in the Faculty of Education. The sample of the population was hundred student (100). They were sampled using the random technique. the instrument used in the study was a questionnaire titled “the Student’s Perception on the Influence of Sex Education on Adolescent Reproductive Health”. Data obtained from the instrument were analyzed using mean and standard deviation.Findings from the study revealed thatthe extent student perceives sex education as influencing adolescence reproductive health. Responses show the mean values ranging from 2.87 to 3.16. Item 1 was accepted which shows that sex education should be taught in schools to boost adolescent reproductive health; results also shows that the response of the respondent based on Age, that students between the age range of 21-30 has a better perception of sex education than student of less than 21 or above 30.

Conclusion: it was concluded that sex education is a fundamental aspect of educational curriculum that should be given to students especially in their adolescent age so that they can be well informed about their reproductive health

Recommendation: The recommendation made was that Government should provide and promote sex education programs, Parents and guardian should ensure that their children are taught about their reproductive health and School management should ensure that the knowledge about sexual health is not restricted to only science related subjects alone, but extended to other subject areas.
