ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to examine students perception of the influence of availability of standard sports facilities and equipments on sports performance among human kinetics and sports science students. For this study, descriptive survey design was adopted. Four research questions were raised and a sample of sixty (60) students which comprised the 200, 300 and 400 level students of human kinetics and sports science department were selected using purposive sampling technique. The data was collected with questionaire which was validated by experts from human kinetics and sports science department and analysed using simple percentage and mean and standard deviation. The findings of the study showed that students believe there is a connection or correlation between availability of standard sports equipments and sports performance, and that the availability of standard sports facilities and equipments can influence sports performance of human kinetics students. In addition, the study further showed that students mostly believe they have not being able to achieve to a large extent their performance goals mostly because of unavailability of standard sports facilities and equipments. This study therefore recommended that standard facilities and equipments should be made available and accessible to human kinetics and sports students to improve their sports performance.
