ABSTRACT

The study was carried out to investigate Students Perception Of Staffing And Willingness To Be Employed As Staffs In Vocational And Technical Education Department In Nigerian Universities, a Case Study Of University Of Benin. The design of the study is descriptive while the population comprised all Industrial Technical Education in University of Benin. The sample size was 200 level and 400 level Industrial Technical Education students totaling 100 respondents while a researchers’ self-developed questionnaire formed the instrument for data collection. The supervisor and one expert validated the instrument. Four research question guided the study. A review of empirical studies was carried out to guide the researcher into previous studies in the area and also to provide the researcher with the researcher with theoretical base. A 16-item questionnaire was used to obtain information from the respondents. The questionnaire is organized into two sections. The questionnaire is organized into two sections, Section A and section B. Section A seeks relevant information about the respondents while Section B comprises 16-item to solicit information from the respondents on Students Perception Of Staffing And Willingness To Be Employed As Staffs In Vocational And Technical Education Department In Nigerian Universities, a Case Study Of University Of Benin, Benin city. The questionnaire had four point Like rating scale of Very High Extent (VHE), High Extent (HE), Low Extent (LE) and Very Low Extent (VHE). This research project delves into the critical aspects of staffing and the willingness of students to be employed as staff members in the Vocational and Technical Education Department at the University of Benin, Nigeria. Vocational and Technical Education plays a vital role in preparing individuals for a dynamic workforce, making it imperative to assess students' perspectives on staffing within this department. Based on the data collected and analyzed, the following results were obtained that lack of staff promotion, welfare and benefits affects students perception to being staffs in vocational and technical education department.. Based on the above, it was recommended that developmental programmes and staffs welafare, renumerations and promotional benefits should be enacted, efforts should also be made by stakeholders to provide staffs with due benefits which will improve the quality of education in vocational and technical education department and in turn improve the interaction of staffs with students.
