STRUCTURAL INTERPRETATION OF ‘A’ FIELD IN NIGER DELTA

ABSTRACT

3D seismic Data interpretation of ‘A’ Field was carried out on schlumberger petrel software with seismic data obtained from Shell Petroleum Development Company under the permission of the Department of Petroleum Resources. Interpretation procedures included; loading of Data, Generation of Semblance map, Mapping of Horizon, Fault interpretation, Surface Generation, Amplitude Extraction, Trap identification and Prospect Ranking. The schlumberger Petrel software was used to delineate faults on the interpretation window and generate them on semblance map for easy interpretation. Horizon tracking was done by picking a good and continuous reflector for reliability and tracked all through the field. Trap mechanisms and structural styles (rollover anticlines and simple anticlines) were defined on the site face map Zone A has the highest amplitude but more research need to be made to be sure if zone A can be called a potential prospect
